Recycled in fine style

AT the latest exhibition to open at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, practically everything is recycled except the ideas. “Do It Now: Live Green,” running through Oct. 20 at the Ben Maltz Gallery, showcases dozens of household products made with sustainable materials and produced in environmentally responsible ways.

Some pieces are mass-marketed designs, such as IKEA’s PS Gullholmen chair, with a woven seat made with reclaimed banana leaves. Others, including Landis Kauffman’s NewsPly table crafted with rolled-up newspapers, are clever one-offs by independent designers.
